Crop PDF

Trim margins or choose an exact visible area on one page, selected pages, or the whole PDF. Work from real previews and download only after every structural crop is verified.

Your PDF never leaves this browser

Choose a PDF to crop

Drag the crop edges on a real page preview, fine-tune each margin, then apply the same area to selected pages or the whole document.

One PDF · Up to 75 MB · Up to 500 pages · No upload

How it works

Move the page boundary, not the content.

Preview locally, choose exact margins, and apply genuine rotation-aware CropBox updates with structural verification before download.

  1. 01

    Open one PDF

Choose a PDF up to 75 MB and 500 pages. Toolkit checks the file structure and renders genuine page previews locally in your browser.

  2. 02

    Choose the visible area

Drag any red edge or enter exact top, bottom, left, and right percentages. Copy that crop to selected pages or every page when layouts match.

  3. 03

    Verify and download

Toolkit updates the original PDF page CropBox values, reopens the result to verify every page box and rotation, then downloads the PDF.

Built for dependable output

Precise cropping with PDF quality and privacy intact.

A real structural crop

Toolkit changes each selected page's PDF CropBox rather than turning the page into a screenshot. Existing text stays selectable, vector artwork stays vector, and embedded images are not recompressed.

Precise multi-page control

Edit an asymmetric area on any page, use percentage presets, select exact page ranges, and apply or reset the crop across selected pages or the complete document.

Private, rotation-aware verification

PDF.js and pdf-lib work in browser memory. Existing page rotation is respected, and the output is reopened to verify page count, rotation, and every expected crop box before download.

Crop PDF questions

Quality, page selection, rotations, privacy, and the important difference between cropping and redaction.

Does cropping reduce PDF quality?+

No. The tool does not rasterize page content or re-encode embedded images. It changes the structural page boundary that PDF viewers display, preserving selectable text, vectors, and source image quality.

Can I crop only certain pages?+

Yes. Edit any page independently, or select pages with checkboxes or ranges such as 1-3, 7, 10-12 and copy the active page's crop to that selection.

Does the same crop work on mixed page sizes?+

Yes. Crops are stored as percentages of each page's current visible area, so the same relative margins can be applied to pages with different dimensions. Check the previews when layouts differ.

Do already rotated pages crop correctly?+

Yes. The crop engine maps the upright preview margins back into PDF coordinates using each page's existing 0, 90, 180, or 270 degree rotation.

Is cropping the same as redaction?+

No. A PDF crop hides content outside the visible CropBox, but that hidden content can remain in the document and may be recoverable. Never use cropping to remove confidential information; use a genuine redaction workflow instead.

Are my PDFs uploaded?+

No. PDF.js renders previews locally and pdf-lib edits and verifies the PDF in browser memory. The file is not sent to the application server and the workspace disappears when the tab closes or reloads.

Can I crop a password-protected PDF?+

Not in this version. Encrypted or password-protected PDFs are rejected rather than bypassed or exported incorrectly. Unlock an authorized copy first.

What happens to forms, links, bookmarks, and signatures?+

The tool modifies the original document rather than copying pages into a new PDF, giving advanced features a better chance of remaining intact. However, rewriting any PDF can affect unusual features, and all digital signatures become invalid after a change.
