Typing passage: At 7:45 a.m., Mara asked, "Did the revised plan reach all twelve reviewers?" The answer was brief: nine approved it, two requested changes, and one had not replied. Version 3.2 added three priorities - clarity, restraint, and a faster path to completion. Before Friday's meeting, read pages 18-27 and mark anything that feels vague or repetitive. The sign near Platform 6 said, "Last service: 23:10; next service: 05:40." Although the forecast promised 21 degrees, the north wind made the afternoon feel much colder. A precise note - even a two-line one - can prevent an hour of confused discussion later. She labelled the folders "Current," "Archive," and "Review before 30 June." The prototype passed 47 checks, failed 3, and completed the full run in 8.6 seconds. If a sentence contains a semicolon; both sides should still carry a complete thought. The team compared Option A (faster) with Option B (safer), then documented the trade-off. Please send the final copy to Nina, Omar, and Lee - not the entire distribution list. Their target was simple: reduce errors below 2.5% without sacrificing a comfortable pace. The cafe's handwritten board listed soup, bread, and today's special: lemon-herb pasta. After the countdown reached zero, he wrote, "Done - but I want one cleaner attempt." A capital letter after a full stop should feel automatic, not like a separate decision. The invoice showed EUR 1,240.50 before tax and EUR 1,488.60 after the 20% adjustment. Use commas carefully: they guide the reader, but too many can weaken an otherwise direct line. The room measured 4.8 by 6.2 metres; the desk occupied less than one-sixth of it. He saved the draft as "field-notes-04.txt" and checked the name twice before closing it. Can accuracy rise from 94% to 98% in a week? Yes - if practice remains deliberate. The editor's rule was clear: keep the meaning, fix the rhythm, and remove every needless word. At exactly 12:05 p.m., the lights dimmed; five seconds later, the presentation began. Typing punctuation well requires timing the Shift key without disturbing the surrounding letters. Beyond a single score

See how your typing actually works.

Two people can reach the same WPM in very different ways. One may type smoothly while another relies on short bursts and frequent corrections. This typing test reveals the rhythm, keys, transitions, and symbols behind the headline number.

01

Rhythm profile

Five-second pace samples reveal acceleration, fatigue, and consistency.

02

Character confidence

A key-response map shows which letters feel automatic and which interrupt flow.

03

Transition lab

Find the exact key pairs that produced your longest gaps and highest error pressure.

04

Punctuation tax

Compare punctuation response with lowercase letters when enough samples are available.

Typing-test questions

How scores are calculated, what stays private, and how the temporary comparison works.

How is typing speed in WPM calculated?

Net WPM divides correctly retained characters by five and then by elapsed minutes. Raw WPM counts every printable keypress, including mistakes and corrected characters. This keeps correction time in the score without subtracting the same error twice.

Are my passage and raw keystrokes uploaded?

No. The passage, typed text, and raw key timings remain in your browser. Only aggregate scores such as WPM, accuracy, error ratio, consistency, mode, and duration are sent for the temporary comparison.

How does the one-hour typing comparison work?

Completed tests are compared only with the same mode and duration from other anonymous browser sessions. The server keeps at most 500 aggregate results, replaces repeated runs from the same session, and expires both the result and signed session token after one hour. No individual peer result is exposed.

What is the punctuation tax?

Punctuation tax compares your median response time for punctuation with your median response time for lowercase letters. It appears only when the run contains enough samples for a useful comparison.

Can I download my typing-test results as a PDF?

Yes. After a test, your browser creates a two-page PDF report containing the main scores, speed chart, key and transition analysis, punctuation response, comparison snapshot, and practice plan.
