Privacy Policy

How Toolkit handles your information: what runs in your browser, what reaches our server, how visits are counted, and the cookies the site can set.

What this policy covers

Toolkit is a collection of free online tools, run independently. There are no accounts and no sign-up. This page explains what information the site handles while you use it, what stays on your device, and the choices you have.

In short

Most tools run entirely in your browser. What you type, paste or open there never reaches us.

We use PostHog to count visits and see which tools get used. No analytics cookie is set unless you accept one.

We do not run advertising, do not sell data, and do not track you across other websites.

Tools that run in your browser

Most tools, including the PDF tools, the invoice, receipt, quotation and CV builders, the calculators, and the text tools, do their work inside your browser. The files you open and the text you type are processed on your device and are not uploaded anywhere.

Some tools save your work in your browser's local storage so it is still there when you come back, for example a draft CV, your notes, a Kanban board or your favourite tools. That data stays on your device, is never sent to us, and you can remove it inside the tool or by clearing site data in your browser.

Tools that use our server

A few tools send something to our server because the work cannot be done in a browser. Each page says so where it applies.

  • Image Compressor, Image Converter and Image Resizer. The image is uploaded, processed in memory, returned to you, and not kept.
  • Weather Checker. The place name you search for is sent through our server to Open-Meteo, a weather data provider. Your IP address is not passed on to them.
  • Typing Speed Test. When you finish a test, your speed and accuracy are sent as numbers so they can be compared with other recent results. The passage and what you typed stay in your browser. Comparison results are held in memory for up to one hour and then discarded.

To keep these services working for everyone, our server applies rate limits. For that it keeps a short-lived, hashed form of your IP address in memory for up to one hour. The address itself is not stored in any log or database.

Visitor analytics

We use PostHog, an analytics service, to understand how many people visit, which pages and tools they use, where visitors come from, and whether anything breaks. This data is sent to PostHog's EU cloud, hosted in Frankfurt, Germany.

What is recorded:

  • The pages you view and the site or search engine you came from.
  • That a tool was used and that an action completed, for example that an invoice was printed or PDFs were merged, together with settings such as a file count or a currency code. The content itself is never included.
  • Your browser, operating system, device type and screen size.
  • A technical error report if a page fails, and timings that show how fast pages load.
  • If you accepted analytics cookies, an approximate location (country and city) worked out from your IP address.

PostHog discards your IP address on arrival and does not store it with the data above.

Without cookies.By default, visits are counted using a hash computed on PostHog's servers from your IP address, your browser and a random value that changes every day and is then deleted. The hash cannot be turned back into your details and cannot recognise you from one day to the next.

With cookies. If you accept, PostHog stores a random identifier in a first-party cookie and in your browser's storage so that return visits can be recognised over time. You can withdraw that at any time in the next section.

We do not record your screen or your session, do not use surveys or heatmaps, and never link analytics data to a name or an email address, because the site collects neither.

Cookies and browser storage

Toolkit sets no cookie for analytics unless you accept one. The table lists everything the site may store in your browser and why.

Your cookie choice

Checking your current choice.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The site keeps working without them; only the analytics cookie is affected by your choice above.

Why we process this information

We rely on your consent for the analytics cookie, and you can withdraw it at any time in the cookies section. We rely on our legitimate interest in understanding, improving and protecting the site for cookieless visit counts, error reports and abuse protection. Processing you ask for yourself, such as compressing an image or fetching a forecast, is carried out in order to provide that service.

Who receives data

We share data only with the services needed to run the site, and only what each one needs:

  • PostHog Inc. Analytics, on its EU cloud in Frankfurt. See the PostHog privacy policy.
  • Our hosting provider. Runs the server that delivers the site and the server-side tools.
  • Open-Meteo. Weather data for the Weather Checker. It receives only the place searched for.

We do not sell personal information, do not share it for advertising, and do not use advertising networks. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep data

  • Uploaded images: deleted as soon as processing finishes.
  • Weather and typing-test cookies, rate-limit records and typing comparison results: one hour.
  • Analytics events: kept by PostHog for the retention period of our plan, which is at most seven years. They contain no name, email address or IP address.
  • Data a tool saved in your browser: stays on your device until you remove it.

Where data is processed

Analytics data is stored in the European Union. If you visit from outside the EU, the information described above is transferred to and processed there. PostHog is a company based in the United States that operates the EU cloud we use; where it handles data from outside the EU it does so under safeguards recognised by EU law, such as standard contractual clauses.

Your choices and how to reach us

You can accept or decline the analytics cookie at any time in the cookies section above, and you can clear anything a tool saved in your browser from the tool or from your browser settings.

Because the site has no accounts and analytics data holds no name, email address or IP address, we usually cannot link analytics data to a specific person. Depending on where you live, data protection law may give you rights over personal data we hold, such as asking for a copy or asking for it to be deleted. To use them, or to ask anything about this policy, email [email protected]. You can also raise a concern with your local data protection authority.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when the way the site handles data changes, and the date at the top shows the latest version.
