GPA uses grade points multiplied by credit hours, so a four-credit course affects the result more than a one-credit course.
P and W entries are excluded from GPA here. Institutional rules for P/F, repeats, withdrawals, and transfer work can differ.
Edit every grade-point value to match the transcript policy before using the cumulative target result for planning.
Planning estimate only. Confirm your institution’s grade-point scale, repeat-course treatment, credit rules, rounding, academic forgiveness, and pass/fail policy against the official transcript or handbook.
Match the official grade-point scale first, then review every quality-point contribution or cumulative planning assumption.
Choose the 4.0 or 4.3 preset, or edit individual letter-grade values to match the institution’s transcript policy.
Add each course, grade, and credit value for a semester, or enter current GPA and completed credits for cumulative planning.
See quality points, excluded pass or withdrawal credits, projected cumulative GPA, and the future average required for a target.
Add up to fifteen courses with decimal credits, plus pass and withdrawal entries that remain visible but are excluded from GPA.
Combine an existing academic record with a planned term and work backwards from a target across a chosen number of future credits.
Start with familiar 4.0 or 4.3 presets, then customize every value from A+ through F for local grading rules.
Multiply each course’s grade points by its credit hours, add the quality points, then divide by the total GPA-attempted credits.
Add previous quality points to new term quality points, then divide by the combined completed and new credit hours.
This calculator excludes P and W entries from GPA while tracking their credits separately. Institutional policies can differ, especially for failing pass/fail grades or late withdrawals.
In the included presets, A+ equals 4.0 on the 4.0 scale and 4.3 on the 4.3 scale. Every value is editable because institutional scales vary.
Quality points are a course’s grade-point value multiplied by its credit hours. They are summed before dividing by GPA-attempted credits.
Yes. If the required future GPA is above the maximum grade-point value in the selected scale, the target is not reachable within the entered future credits under those assumptions.
Not automatically. Repeat replacement, transfer credit, academic forgiveness, pass/fail, and withdrawal policies differ, so enter only the credits and grade points your institution includes.
