Budget Planner

Give every month a clear plan, then compare it with reality, without connecting a bank account or sharing personal figures.

How it works

Make the plan, then learn from the month.

A useful budget is not a prediction you must get perfectly right. It is a simple feedback loop between intention and actual decisions.

  1. 01

    Set the month and target

Choose the month, currency, and a realistic savings target. New months can carry forward the recurring rows from the month you are viewing.

  2. 02

    Plan income and spending

Add each income or expense with its category and planned amount. Mark predictable items such as salary, rent, or subscriptions as recurring.

  3. 03

    Track what actually happened

Update actual amounts during the month, compare them with the plan, inspect category variances, and export the complete month as CSV.

A dependable monthly workspace

Enough detail to guide you, without spreadsheet overhead.

Plan and actual in one view

See expected income, expenses, balance, and savings rate beside the real amounts recorded so far instead of maintaining two disconnected sheets.

Recurring monthly structure

Carry selected entries and their planned values into another month with actual amounts reset, preserving structure without copying old results.

Private, portable records

Budgets stay in local browser storage. Download any month as a CSV file for a spreadsheet, archive, or conversation with a partner or adviser.

Budget questions

Planning, recurring rows, privacy, and interpretation.

What should I include in a monthly budget?+

Include reliable after-tax income, fixed obligations, variable essentials, flexible spending, debt payments, and planned savings. Use categories detailed enough to guide decisions but simple enough to maintain.

What is the difference between planned and actual?+

Planned is the amount you expect before or during the month. Actual is the income received or money spent. Their difference shows where reality moved away from the plan.

How do recurring entries work?+

When Toolkit opens a month that has no plan yet, it copies recurring entries from the month currently on screen, keeps their planned values, and resets actual values to zero.

Does the planner connect to my bank?+

No. Entries are added manually, which keeps the tool account-free and means Toolkit never receives bank credentials or transaction feeds.

Where is my budget saved?+

The planner stores budgets in local storage in this browser. Clearing site data or using another browser removes access unless you exported a copy.

Is a positive balance the same as savings?+

It is the amount of income left after listed expenses. It becomes savings only if you deliberately keep or transfer it rather than spend it elsewhere.
